F1 THE SETTLERS
Colonial life in the late nineteenth century. Based on authentic re-creations of the living room, parlour, bedroom, kitchen etc. Includes demonstrations of early gramophones and shaving with a cut-throat razor. Years 1 - 8
F2 YESTERDAY'S CLASSROOM
A popular living experience for learners who dress up to experience an old-style lesson complete with traditional desks, dip pens, ink-wells, slates, games and discipline of the late nineteenth century. Years 1 - 8
F3 DOMESTIC BLISS
Neither Fisher nor Paykel are there to help as pupils work with washboards and mangles in our replica Chinese laundry. Years 1 - 8
F4 BUTTER MAKING
Another fun hands-on module where pupils learn the history of this staple dairy product and churn their own butter. Years 1 - 8
F5 OLDEN DAYS
Pupils experience life as it was 100 years ago. Let us plan your visit to include any combination of activities; Dress-up and class photo, Old School, Home Life, Stables, Washing, Old Games and Butter Making. Years 1 - 8
F6 OLDE TIME CANDLE MAKING
No electric lights in those days, so candle-making was an essential skill. A fun hands-on session which takes pupils back to those pioneer days. Combines well with T8. Years 1 – 8
F7 RIVERLANDS COB COTTAGE
A close look at this historic building and the role of earth houses in the early Marlborough landscape. Pupils can experience a lesson in the classroom, tour the sleeping loft, kitchen and dairy, and build a model cottage from real cob and thatch. Years 3 –8
F8 THE FABULOUS FIFTIES
Life in the 1950s. Furnishings, appliances, clothing, music, dancing and singing from Grandma and Granddad's times. Years 1 - 8
F9 THE 1950s CLASSROOM
Pupils experience traditional desks, dip pens, games, Janet & John readers, pounds, shillings and pence - plus the classroom discipline of 50 years ago! Years 1 - 8
F10 KIWIANA and ICONZ
“She’ll be right” as we sing the ‘Gumboot’ song, listen to music and view items that make New Zealand special. Years 1 - 8
F11 CLOTHING & FASHION
The history of clothing in New Zealand from colonial settlement to the present day. Visit the Beavertown clothing and hat shops. A fashion extravaganza! Years 1 – 8
F12 THE ANZAC EXPERIENCE
A powerful multimedia and hands-on module especially designed for New Zealand’s annual commemoration. Term 2 only. Years 7 –13
F13 SPIRIT of ANZAC
A multimedia and hands-on module covering the birth of the ANZAC spirit in World War 1 through to recent conflicts. Term 2 only. Years 1 – 8
